Christmas Reflection
The love of God is shining from the manger at Christmas Time.
The mystery of the Incarnation is one that no human mind will ever comprehend completely. Jesus, God almighty came to earth in the poorest conditions to show us how to live. As a little child helpless, He came into the world and He is the hope of all creation. By his birth he has brought joy, love and reconciliation to all. He is the love of God. He is God incarnate. Let us shine the love of God to others. Jesus is the reason for the season and He will show us the way.
We echo the words of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Magnificat Prayer:
"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold,
from now on will all ages call me blessed.
The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him."
Luke 1:46-4
In this Christmas 2006, the loneliness is accentuated by the memories of family members now departed. How can melancholy be overcome and how can joy permeate our living? Only through God's grace. God can give us the strength that we lack and He can take our hand, if we ask, and help us help others when we feel confused and disoriented. We have the power to love, the power to help others, the power to forgive.
Let us be the shining light of Christ to others in this Christmas 2006 and in the New Year 2007.
May our lives be a blessing to others.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2008!
God bless you and your families today and always,
Marta
